Bolt tightening event at Turton School

Turton School is currently undergoing a multi-million pound extension and modernisation project. Work started in January 2018 and just before the Easter break, ourselves and the school held the ceremony to mark the installation of the steel frame of the new dining room.

The grand landmark moment was celebrated by students, staff, headteacher, governors and the project team from Kier.

Thanks to the ‘extensive pre-design’ work between Kier, the school and Bolton Council, the challenge of running a building site on school grounds is said to have very little impact on the day to day running of the school. The students have also benefited from site tours, career talks and work experience opportunities are planned to allow an insight into the construction industry.

All the work is scheduled to be completed by September for the start of the new school year.

The headteacher commended Gavin Turner and the project team on their seamless integration with the school and noted the educational engagement programme delivered to date and in the planning has made the build process really enjoyable.
