Creating a legacy at Huntington Primary School

We have been busy in the Cheshire countryside building not only a fantastic new primary school for 420 children in the Huntington Village, but also using this opportunity to introduce the students to the roles in construction and health and safety awareness.

Kier’s safety mascot Kieran attended the school assembly with Senior Site Manager, Dan Hampson, to explain about the new school, the build process and give a health and safety talk. The children, who have fully embraced the new school, created a site hoarding showing what the school means to them and how they learn to live and live to learn.

The hoarding is displayed proudly on the site perimeter and viewing areas have been installed where you can peep in to see how the building is progressing. Dan has also enlisted the help of a local graphic designer to support the design and has also helped to create the new school logo.

Nestled near the new school is Jubilee Fields which is a community field managed by Huntington Parish Council. Unfortunately the entrance to the field was in poor condition and the fence and gate had been damaged. Dan and his team decided to help out and replaced the fencing and gate and took the opportunity to widen the entrance to enable easier access.

Huntington Parish Council are delighted with the improvements and they said: “They are definitely a construction company who should be applauded loudly! Massive thanks to Dan Hampson and everyone at Kier Construction.”

The hoarding was entered into the national Considerate Constructor hoarding competition and I am delighted to confirm have have been awarded second place out of 70 contractors. and over 3500 eye-catching and unique works of art.
