St Albans Place, Leeds – Progress on site

Works at the St Albans Place project in Leeds are progressing well and on target to handover on the 29th July 2019. We have captured an image of the site from RG Group’s tower crane on Belgrave Street. Noteable observations on this are;

  • Level 15 of concrete frame is decked out in readiness for reinforcement – concrete pour due on Monday 10th September 2018
  • Twin Hoist in the process of being extended up to Level 13, i.e. tied to the underside of Level 14
  • Windows and glass installed up to Level 7
  • Hot melt laid and protected on Level 11. Level 11 is now being used as laydown area by Northfield Construction. Level 6 has been cleared of materials in readiness for the hot melt being applied over the next week
  • Ceramic terracotta tiles have commence on the East and West elevation on the 6 storey shoulder

The site recently had their second visit from Considerate Constructors and were delighted to achieve a fantastic score of 44. Whilst this was a team effort, a special thanks must go to Brad Fraser (Assistant Site Manager) for his drive and focus on delivering this CCS score. The auditor was very impressed by the attitude of the site team in creating and encouraging site visits and work experience opportunities for the local universities and colleges. Listed below are some of the site team initiatives that helped achieve the score;

  • Providing local businesses and employees with Automated External Defibrilator training
  • Daily litter picking around the site
  • Built a bug hotel that is constructed with spare pallets, drainage and grass
  • CSR – £52,096 generated in social impact
  • One use plastic bottles for personnel on site
  • Solar powered battery banks for mobile phones
  • Hand dryers installed in the toilets to reduce paper towel consumption
  • Installed an eco boot wash that is now connected to the guttering to use rain water
