Cathedral Archer Sleep Out

On Friday 14th September, nine members of staff from Kier Construction and Kier Services took part in a sleep-out in aid of the Cathedral Archer Project, raising awareness of homelessness and funds for the charity.

Angela, Sarah, Abby, Rachel, Callie, and Steve from Kier Services in Sheffield joined Donna, Felicity, and Dave from our Leeds office to spend the night outside Sheffield Cathedral. At the start of the sleep-out, Donna gave a speech on our engagement and support for the Project, and on her previous experience of the sleep-out.

The team spoke to some of the homeless in the area about their journeys. In the morning, we donated 12 sleeping bags, bivvy bags, and camping mats to the Project for distribution to their service users.

Due to the cold and wet weather, the team didn’t get much sleep, but such a great cause made it all worthwhile. We have so far raised over £600, to be matched by the Kier Foundation, and we are still collecting funds. We may also participate in a sleep-out next year, following the success of the event.
