Forces In Construction Event

As part of our commitment to our Armed Forces Covenant, we identified an opportunity to support ex-services personnel in North Wales. Following this Kier Construction, CITB and the MOD arranged a conference and workshop at Coleg Cambria Deeside for the ex-service community in North Wales. The event was opened by the Rt Hon Sir Lord Barry Jones who delivered a rousing speech recognising the contribution of the ex-service personnel and identified how their qualities and attributes are ideal to transition into the construction industry.

Matt Sucking (Kier Resourcing Business Partner), Dan Hampson (Kier Senior Site Manager) and Janette Williams (Armed Forces Liaison Officer) delivered a workshop providing practical advice and lessons learnt. Talks were also delivered by Tony Fish (Regional Employer Engagement Director for the MOD), Horizon, CITB and Coleg Cambria.

To support the presentation over 20 local construction companies provided information on job opportunities and advice and support to the delegates with their transition. At the Kier stand Dan Hampson and Jon Hughes (Design Engineer for Kier Professional Services), both ex-services, shared their success stories with the delegates.
