Column signing marks our 1000th Scape project

Last week we held a steel signing ceremony to mark construction progress at Flintshire Adult Day Care Centre – the 1000th project to be delivered through the Scape National Minor Works Framework for the Group. The column signing marks a key milestone at the £4m day care centre which, once complete, will deliver a wealth of benefit to the local community.

The project is currently on programme with the steel frame complete and the roof installed. The next package to start is wall cladding which will commence this week and the slab preparation for the pour in ongoing. External drainage is 80% complete with the internal drainage due to commence in mid-December. During the course of the project to date, they have had numerous work experience students and on the 20th November they held a visit with the CITB for 20+ 16-17 year old construction students.

Michael Edwards, Strategic Framework and Alliances Director who leads on the Scape framework said: “For me, the thing that makes our relationship with Scape special is the social impact our work has, and the added local value we create. “This includes using a local supply chain and labour force, finding opportunities for apprentices training and creating new jobs, through to engaging with school pupils and giving back through local community projects.”

Within the first three years of delivering the current Scape National Minor Works framework, we have created over £240m of social value. This has included:

• Allocating over 99% of our supply-chain spend to SMEs
• Starting over 400 apprentices
• Creating 480 new jobs
• Delivering over £17m of employment and training opportunities
