Official Opening at Diana Princess of Wales Key Worker Accommodation – The Roost

On the 3rd December, the official opening ceremony was held for the Key Worker Accommodation at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby. The building was opened by Sir Keith Pearson, Chairman of Health Education England.

Staff at the hospital were asked to put forward names for the new building. Consultant Radiologist, Dr Joseph Alex, choose the winning name – The Roost. The Roost will accommodate 96 student units and 124 studio apartments to assist in recruiting new staff including doctors and nurses, with the first staff moving in during the month of December.

Jug Johal, director of estates and facilities at the trust, said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our staff such high standards of modern accommodation at affordable prices. We hope these new facilities help us to attract more medical staff to come and work for us.”

Whilst the project, procured under the P21+, there was no requirement for social value. However, this did not stop the team from carrying out social value activities, including going into schools to talk about jobs in construction and holding a construction activity day. The project has generated £26,111,035.76 of social value, a social return on investment of £1.87.

Well done to the whole team – the project has been an excellent example of good collaboration and Client relationships from start to finish. You should all be proud of what you’ve delivered!
