Rowan View – progress on site

In February, I had the pleasure of a site visit to the newly named Rowan View project (formerly Merseycare) and the complexity of the site was astounding. The contract is under the P21+ framework and is a joint venture with Kier M&E. The full contract value is £48.3m.

The project commenced 23rd April 2018 and is due to complete 20th June 2020. Currently the team are on programme in week 44 of 104 weeks. The build is very traditional with a steel frame, SFS and external brickwork. One of the biggest building issues the team will need to manage is the sixteen internal courtyards that will be land locked once the structure progresses. The site team are now in the process of completing two sample en-suite bedrooms which will help to ensure that any issues in developing/installing these are resolved before the construction starts on site.

Once complete, Rowan View will be a state of the art medium secure mental health unit with 123 en-suite bedrooms. Facilities will include sports hall, gymnasium, dental suite, sensory rooms, wood workshops, music rooms and multi-faith rooms.
