Dixons Sixth Form Academy – progress on site

Dixons Academy in Bradford started on site in November 2018 and the building will become a 880-pupil Sixth Form Academy for Dixons Academy Group, via the DfE. The project comprises of the full refurbishment of Douglas Mill, a 6 storey 1840s grade II listed building, a two-storey 1840s former coach and a new build sports hall.

Challenges on the project to date have been:

Kitchen and dining area in a reduced height basement
Grade II listed buildings including the coach house that has been derelict for approximately 15-20 years
A mine shaft that was found to be located in the middle of the sports hall area

Phase 1 handover for 330 pupils is scheduled to complete in August 2019 which includes the basement, Ground and 1st floor of Douglas Mill, with the remainder of the building and site being a live construction site. Phase 2 completion is scheduled to complete in March 2020.

The project team are also working closely with Bradford council and we have sponsored their upcoming road safety campaign.
