City of Trees, Manchester

A collaborative effort was made with members of the 11 York Street project team, the commercial team from the Manchester office and staff from the School of Digital arts to volunteer across two days supporting the charity Manchester City of Trees. We estimate over 200 trees were planted by the volunteers and in typical English weather of hailstones and rain.

On Friday 21st February Lee Williams (Project Manager), Danielle Rowley (Site Manager) and Gareth Meadows (Quantity Surveyor) volunteered at Dunham Massey National Trust in Trafford.

On Tuesday 25th February Phil Sykes (Design Manager), Lara Da Rocha Faria (CSR Manager) and Greg O’Toole (Site Administrator) volunteered at Copperas Field, Droylsden.

City of Trees is an innovative and exciting movement transforming underused, unloved woodland and planting 3 million trees – one for every person across the city region, within a generation. City of Trees is the Greater Manchester part of the Northern Forest.
