Completion of three DfE projects in the North East

In the past week we have successfully handed over three new schools to the Department for Education in the North East region.

The first was Bishop Barrington reported on earlier this week, followed by St Benet Biscop and then phase 2 of Toner Avenue School yesterday.

St Benet Biscop is a £3.5m classroom extension and sports block led by Senior Site Manager Gary Richardson. Steve Lynn, Operations Manager, said: “This is a credit to all involved, especially Gary who has kept the scheme running throughout the pandemic and in accordance with the guidelines”.

Toner Avenue is a £9.2m new build school for the DfE and South Tyneside Council and we have completed the demolition of the existing school and hard and soft landscaping including car park as the phase 2 works. We will continue on site for the final phase which is the recently instructed sports pitch works. Steve Lynn said: “The project has been a credit to the whole team, from Darran Snarr and Rhys Brown on Phase 1 to Shaun Harrison and James Barr leading the phase 2 works.

I would like to personally thank everyone involved for their hard work and commitment in getting our hat-trick of projects handed over to the DfE.”
