Supply Chain Sustainability School Session

Colleagues from our Regional Building NW team recently delivered a live webinar to over 40 no. local Supply Chain members, in conjunction with our partners at the Supply Chain Sustainability School (SCSS).

The webinar was aimed at those Supply Chain partners who are at the early stages of their journey with the school, setting out the benefits of membership and the support and resources available.

The SCSS is a free learning environment, aimed at upskilling those working in, or aspiring to work in, the built environment. It was launched to enable our supply chain to assess their own maturity in relation to sustainability and then to set development pathways to improve knowledge and performance.

It organises a variety of workshops and networking events to inform and upskill the supply chain and is a free learning environment for the built environment supply chain.

An interactive polling session was also facilitated during the session, the results of which will be used to help shape future workshops and learning pathways. We also heard a positive testimony from our valued Supply Chain partner, Story Decorators, who enrolled with the school earlier this year. Claire Story explained how their business has benefited greatly from the support and resources that have been made available to them.

Commenting on the event, our Supply Chain Manager Neil Carson stated “Kier launched their new Environmental and Social Sustainability Frameworks earlier this year. Facilitating similar workshops and working more collaboratively with our Supply Chain and partners at the SCSS in the future will help us embed the new strategy and is critical to helping us achieve the purpose we set for ourselves under our new Operating Framework – to sustainably deliver infrastructure which is vital to the UK.A big thank you to everyone that supported us on the day, including Emma Jane from the SCSS and Clare Story for sharing her personal experiences”.
