Completion of UHI Optometry Centre

In December we successfully handed over the UHI Optometry Centre project to the University of Highlands and Islands in Inverness. The project was delivered through the Scape framework.

The project requirements entailed the refurbishment of two existing rooms into a teaching space for optometry students. This comprised of initial down takings and the development of ten individual teaching bays and a classroom space for group learning. The teaching bays were fitted out with black-out blinds and optometry equipment to enable clinical assessments to be undertaken and has been developed to allow group learning for ten students.

The Client was looking to develop educational and practical space for optometry students to gain valuable hands on assessment work. The challenge for the project team was a tight programme to allow all necessary optometry equipment to be fitted prior to the new academic term commencing in January 2021. By delivering the required space, the customer has transitioned its students into a first-class teaching facility for the new term and be used for new students moving forward.
