York St John University Creative Centre – progress on site

Our project at York St John University to build their new creative centre is progressing well, despite starting just before the first lockdown hit the country.

Following the installation of the steel frame, precast concrete planks and timber frame the works on York St John University Creative Centre have been progressing over the past few months to achieve water tightness. The structural insulated panels have all been installed on the external walls and the Sika Sarnafil roof works have been installed. The timber cladding works have just commenced with the installation of brackets for taking the panelised cladding. The timber cladding is required to go through a 12 week fire treatment process before it can be installed on site.

Internally the blockwork walls to the teaching block and auditorium have been completed, and the M&E and drylining sub-contractors have commenced and are progressing their first fix works. In addition painting to the exposed soffits has been undertaken and the first installation of screed is completed.

Over the next few weeks the works will included installation of external drainage, decoration, windows and doors, and floor finishes.
