Environmental Week – Award Success

During environmental week an internal construction carbon calculator tool, which allows our preconstruction and planning teams to identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions from our construction activities, was launched. By using the tool we will be able to demonstrate our responsible approach and that we are taking actions to reduce emissions.

As a follow up, a competition was launched for project teams to complete the tool (either retrospectively or for projects in the pipeline) to identify our lowest construction carbon project for 2021 and the winner is:

Shakespeare North project in Knowsley!

They were awarded this for their use of the PUNCH Flybrid flywheel technology and the project is also using Greenspace cabins for the whole duration of the project, saving 166.54 tons of CO2e from their carbon emissions.

Our project, Durham History Centre & Archives was also received a highly commended for their use of HVO fuels.

Well done to both projects!
