Queensferry Learning Campus – sectional completion

Recently we handed over the new build two-storey Pupil Referral Unit (known as Plas Derwen) at Queensferry Learning Campus to Flintshire County Council.

Plas Derwen will accommodate 111 pupils and there are 9 classrooms, 3 specialist classrooms, therapeutic zones, administration facilities, hall, kitchen and servery and hard and soft play areas.

Tim Ford, Headteacher said: “Plas Derwen offers an inclusive, caring environment which nurtures, values and supports learners as they grow and develop. Learners can flourish in an environment which provides opportunities for growth through high quality teaching and learning born from a genuine passion and commitment to holistic education, wellbeing and a desire for all learners to succeed. This new building will provide the opportunity for our vision to become real and the investment in the young people’s education who will ensure that all who use it can be confident that their future prospects can be realised.”

Works on site will continue to complete the new community hub, primary school hall, kitchen block, entrance area for an October handover with phase 2 demolition and completion of external works being carried out until Spring 2022.
