NHS Golden Jubilee – progress

Enabling works began to the NHS Golden Jubilee Phase 2 project, which is the new surgical centre, back in 2020 with the main works beginning in the spring of this year.

Below is a link to timelapse footage of the project which shows the entirety of the MMC HybriDFMA precast frame erection process including the precast façade panelling (complete with pre-installed windows and louvers).

From the erection of the two tower cranes to the removal and infilling of the formed tower crane voids within the structure, these works consisted of the erection of 612 no. engineered structural components and was clad using 177 no. brick façade panels.

During the video you can see the precast columns and concrete core panels being erected followed by the installation of the pre-cast and steel (‘Delta’) beams which then allows the precast floor slabs to be installed and subsequently concreted and this process is repeated until the building is at height. The façade panel installation commences during the erection of the second floor precast frame and runs concurrently with the frame erection and the duration of these works took 22 weeks from commencement to completion.
