Success at the North West Regional Construction Awards 2021

We were delighted to pick up four trophies at the North West Regional Construction Awards on Friday evening where we won the following:

Sustainability Award
Carbon Reducing Flywheel at
Shakespeare North Playhouse

“The winning submission used technology transferred from Formula 1 to reduce use on site using a flywheel energy storage system. Using PUNCH Flybrid flywheel technology on its Shakespeare North site, demonstrated that carbon savings, a reduction in pollutants, as well as providing social value benefits to the surrounding community could be delivered. The innovation is now being rolled out on other sites.”

Innovation Award
First Light Pavilion at Jodrell Bank

“This is an unusually complex project, with many structural and methodological challenges which required innovative solutions. The need for the development of a full-scale prototype required intense collaboration and teamwork, to deliver this project – including the first concrete dome constructed in the UK for over 25 years. The project has been delivered on time, under-budget, and with economic and social value exceeding initial targets.”

Sub Regional Project of the Year Award (Manchester)
Manchester Museum Hello Future project

“The judges said this was a great project and was well evidenced. It featured complicated site logistics and arrangements with work adjacent to live Grade II listed buildings, all in a city centre location. Extensive collaboration between the client, design team and supply chain was fundamental to the success of this project which required over 18,000 artefacts had to be moved or remain in-situ and be protected.”

Sub Regional Project of the Year Award (Cheshire, Wirrall, Warrington)
First Light Pavilion at Jodrell Bank

“This is an unusually complex project, with many structural and methodological challenges which required innovative solutions. The need for the development of a full-scale prototype required intense collaboration and teamwork, to deliver this project – including the first concrete dome constructed in the UK for over 25 years. The project has been delivered on time, under-budget, and with economic and social value exceeding initial targets.”

We are looking forward to the national awards in January where Shakespeare North for Sustainability and First Light Pavilion for Innovation are automatically entered.
