Scottish Apprenticeship Week

Scottish Apprenticeship Week shines a light on the vital role apprenticeships play in supporting people, employers, and the economy and shows that apprenticeships work for Scotland by giving people the skills employers need now and for the future. Apprenticeships are a crucial part of the Young Person’s Guarantee, providing thousands of opportunities for young people affected by the pandemic and the week is a time for everyone with a shared interest in apprenticeships to show how they work for them.

To support this, Working 4 U Civil Engineering Foundation Apprenticeship students from Clydebank High School and St Peter the Apostle High School visited the NHS Golden Jubilee new surgical centre project. The visit allowed students to gain valuable knowledge of the industry and our project manager Chris’s questions which will help them towards their qualification.

They were given a tour of the site and Chris spoke to the students about:

  • What the project is about
  • How important health and safety is in construction
  • The structures and modern methods of construction used to date

Stephen Knox, Working 4U Officer gave some feedback from the students: “Spoke to a couple of the boys today and they mentioned it was much better than any previous site visit they had done so some great feedback. It was fantastic and a great opportunity for them. Thanks again it was excellent today!”
