Paisley Museum – progress on site

Paisley Museum Reimagined is project to transform the existing museum into a world-class visitor destination in Scotland.  When it reopens, the reimagined museum is expected to draw audiences from Scotland, the UK and abroad – almost quadrupling visitor numbers to 125,000 a year.

The renovated museum and library buildings will be in conservation with the new and together they create a cohesive museum campus and a visitor experience of international quality.

Works are gathering pace on the project with the installation of three new insitu concrete beams formed and associated temporary works will allow the structure at level 1, and part of level 2, to be removed along with a bulk excavation exercise of circa 1000 tonnes of subsoil that will create level access for Paisley High Street into the museum.

The new west extension that will house the lifts and circulation areas required to access the 1870’s and 1930’s buildings is also underway with the piling practically complete and pile caps/ring beams ongoing.

Elsewhere roof works are ongoing to strip and re-slate the 29 roofs on the project along with new roof safety systems and rooflights.
