L-R Liam Cummins, Helen Redfern and Rhys Brown

Designed to recognise the best of the best, the awards will celebrate the commitment, pride, and passion of our people.

Rhys’ nomination praised his consistently high level of commitment and determination to successfully handover a range of construction projects, from healthcare to residential. His reliability and track record have seen him work on some of his region’s most high-profile schemes. Rhys is an advocate of the digital revolution and has taken a lead role on the change of IT platforms used during the day-to-day running of the projects he works on,. He supports those who are less comfortable with the technology, which has led to increased productivity and reduced health and safety concerns. During his final year at university, Rhys worked on-site while studying full-time and used projects he was involved in to craft his dissertation topic, receiving 80% and graduating with first class honours.

On his win, Rhys said: “Thank you for the North East office for the nomination at this year’s Pride of Kier Awards. It has been an extremely busy period over the last few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so to represent the business at the awards was an honour and was nice to finally have the opportunity to meet work colleagues from across the wider business unit. It was also good to follow in the footsteps of Alex Taylor winning the One to Watch award from last year, and a huge congratulations to the other award winners!”
