St Albans – student site visit with Curtins Consulting

On Monday 4th December, our St Albans site hosted another student visit. David Wilson, Senior Project Manager, was approached by Thomas Leighton, Structural Engineer of Curtins Consulting to ask if a visit could be arranged. Thomas said;

“As part of our ongoing support to the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering at The University of Sheffield, and our participation in their Industrial Mentor Scheme, a group of eight students visited our Leeds office where they were given a short presentation about how their studies relate to day to day working in the industry.

The students were given an overview of one of our projects – St Albans in Leeds. This was then supported by a visit to the site and a presentation about the role of the Contractor from David Wilson. The students have the opportunity to follow the progress of the project throughout its duration with a series of site visits programmed at key stages of the build.

Myself and Gareth Hanson, Civil Engineer, are the industrial mentors for the students, and in addition to the programmed site visits, we are also on hand to provide support to the Year 2 students throughout the year with high level technical advice, peer reviews and general guidance.”
