Completion of Heron House

Back in April Heron House was completed and handed over to Manchester City Council.  The refurbishment works have provided 12000m2 of new modern office space with three core areas, six lifts and two remodelled reception areas.

The handover brings to an end a journey that started in February 2017.  Over the course of the 68-week build programme, long and varied hours were worked by the team to overcome the logistical challenges of a tight city centre site and keeping the eight businesses operational throughout the work.  This was also achieved around the sensitive nature of Manchester City Council’s registrar operations and with an average of 20 ceremonies a week.

We were able to effectively deal with these challenges plus incorporate significant scheme changes, meeting CSR targets whilst delivering a quality product.  We have received praise for the efforts of the Kier team for our collaborative approach and delivering a quality transformation to the agreed programme.

A project the whole team has owned from start to finish and can be extremely proud of.
