LRCG Diversity Matters Supply Chain Webinar

As part of our involvement in the LRCG (Liverpool Regeneration Contractors Group) we recently partnered up with the Supply Chain Sustainability School and Liverpool City Council to host a Supply Chain webinar, exploring how we approach Equality, Diversity & Inclusion as an industry through our recruitment practices, with a particular spotlight on BAME communities.

There was a recognition within the group that the construction workforce within the Liverpool City Region didn’t fully reflect the communities that we operate within, with under representation across many groups. The webinar aimed to provoke open discussion, show the benefits of a diverse workforce, and reveal practical actions that businesses can take to improve recruitment and progression practices, and to become an employer of choice for BAME applicants and other diverse groups.

The webinar was well attended with interactive breakout sessions facilitated by the contractor partners. The webinar is intended to be a springboard to drive real positive change across the city region with the LRCG partners currently in the process of formulating an ambitious post event action plan.

Our Supply Chain Manager Neil Carson commented: “The webinar was quite timely as it coincided with the recent launch of the Kier Inclusion Network (KIN) and our CEO’s support of the “If not now, when” campaign. As this area was also a key priority for our valued client L.C.C, we wanted to use our position and leadership on the LRCG to champion real change, with particular focus on how we can take our Supply Chain on the journey with us. The webinar also resulted in a further 5 Supply Chain partners joining the school, which will bring longer term benefits for each of those businesses.”
