Have a go event at Factory Youth Zone, Manchester

On the 14th February, Kier took the ‘Shaping Your World’ interactive stand to the ‘Have a Go – for the love of construction’ event at the Factory Youth Zone in Manchester. The event was a joint initiative delivered by main contractors involved in the social value working group of the North West Construction Hub Framework.

This event offered local students from primary and secondary schools and the general public, an insight into careers in construction. Opportunities were available to have a go at bricklaying, plastering and joinery alongside a glimpse into the future of digital construction via BIM and virtual reality experiences. STEM activities were also running throughout the day and apprenticeship and training advice was available.

Matt Wong, Trainee Site Manager (Windmill Green project), Rachael Land, Group Early Careers Advisor and Lara Da Rocha Faria, CSR Manager were on hand to promote apprenticeships and encourage young people to explore our ‘virtual interactive built environment’ (VIBE) via the Shaping Your World website – Shaping Your World
