Epic bike ride for prostate cancer

On the 1st of June a group of people, including Kier employees, staff from HE Simm and friends, took part in the Prostate Cancer Charity Ride – a three day bike ride from Barnsley to Amsterdam.

The ride saw them and another 400 other football fans in the annual 145 mile pedal pilgrimage to to stop prostate cancer being a killer. Prostate cancer is most common cancer in men and its disease which kills one man every 45 minutes; that’s two men during a football match.

This is statistic is simply not acceptable but Prostate Cancer UK know that with funding they can turn it around. Prostate Cancer UK are determined to take action, to make this a disease the next generation need not fear.

Starting in Barnsley the team cycled an incredible 145 miles to the Ajax Amsterdam Arena. The group set up an individual JustGiving page and to date they have raised an incredible £10,621. This total also includes matched funding from the Kier Foundation of £600.

Speaking about the event Gareth quoted; “It was a great weekend and I was assured that the lagers were isotonic!”
