The project team at Birley Fields downed tools on Remembrance Day at 11:00 along with the rest of the country to commemorate the bravery of our armed forces and the impact their service has given to current and future generations.
Taking time out of the project to commemorate those lost in battle is particularly significant amongst the project team; where we have ex-services persons working within the Provsec Ltd and SES Engineering Services teams.
Alongside the Kier team stood a large number of the contractors, gathered around the on-site memorial and ‘lest we forget’ flag pole established a week ago on site. The metal memorial ‘fallen solider’ silouhette was made from recycled metal by apprentices at ACS Stainless Steel Fixings Ltd and donated to the project. Newburn Power Rental Ltd supplied and fitted the lighting all free of charge.
Kier are signatories of the armed forces covenant and actively recruit ex-services persons via the employability programmes we support. The project has also chosen to support The Royal British Leigon with the sale of poppies to our subcontractors.
