Royal Opening at Alness Academy

This week, HRH The Princess Royal officially opened the new facilities at Alness Academy in the Highlands. Working collaboratively with The Highland Council and Hub North Scotland, we are proud to have delivered a new building as well as sporting facilities for the school and local community to enjoy.

The Alness community has been at the heart of this project and over the last two years we have:

  • Provided job and training opportunities, including over 20 apprenticeships
  • Worked with local supply chain partners
  • Had 190 pupils visit the site
  • Offered 140 work experience days
  • Fundraised for 3 local charities

Speaking on behalf of the Cromarty Ward Members, Councillor Carolyn Wilson said at the opening ceremony: “This is a proud day for the whole community. We’ve waited for a new school for a very long time. The Princess Royal, in her address, acknowledged not only what a magnificent building the new school is but also how it is giving our young people the very best opportunities to achieve and make the most of their time in education and will be doing so for many generations to come.”
