P21+ Mersey Care Mental Health Unit

Over the course of the last 4 years we have worked with Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust to develop their outline business case and subsequent full business case. I am pleased to announce that the full business case received Treasury approval on Thursday 1st March 2018.

We subsequently signed the main contract at the end of March 2018 for an agreed GMP of £48.33m, which makes it the largest single project that Kier Construction Northern have ever undertaken. Works are due to commence on site on the 23 April 2018 for a duration of 106 weeks with completion planned for June 2020. Yesterday we held a ground breaking ceremony to celebrate the start of works on site.

The project is a joint venture with Kier M&E and consists of a 123 bed mental illness and learning disabilities medium secure facility split across eight wards with supporting accommodation, on the Maghull Health Park in Liverpool. Once completed, it will provide class leading medium secure mental health facilities.
