Newmarket Waste HQ – progress on site

The new £7m Newmarket Approach depot in Leeds started on site earlier this year and includes three storey-office accommodation, fuel filling, vehicle wash facilities and extensive electric vehicle charging and parking for Leeds City Council’s fleet of operational vehicles.

The building is now water-tight with the roof complete and temporary window screens installed, allowing internal works to begin. The site is currently at the peak of operational works and the use of lean planning techniques along with communication and teamwork ensures both continuity and meeting our programme. The team are continuing to meet any challenges head-on and works currently taking place are:

  • Partitions 1st fix to all floors
  • M&E 1st fix to all floors
  • Window installation is due to start next week along with the external cladding
  • Externally works are continuing with the external concrete slabs. The tanks have been installed to the fuelling area and the fuelling area kerbs, ducting and fuel pipes are being installed. The transformer switch gear is being installed into the substation, the vehicle wash is ongoing as are the installation of the attenuation tanks.

Works due to follow these include:

  • 2nd fix partitions and plastering
  • 2nd fix M&E
  • Completion of the cladding and windows, including the curtain walling
  • Externally works will continue to the external slabs and prepartion for the west car park
