Scottish Property Awards 2021

We are delighted to announce that our project NHS Louisa Jordan has won the Outstanding Achievement in Partnership Award at the Scottish Property Awards 2021. The award was sponsored by Addleshaw Goddard and was given to NHS Louisa Jordan, NHS Scotland, Balfour Beatty, Graham, Kier, Robertsons and Keppie Design. International Safety Award

We are delighted to confirm that the North & Scotland business has won an International Safety Award with a Distinction from the British Safety Council in recognition of its commitment to keeping its workers and workplaces healthy and safe during the 2020 calendar year. We are one of 85 organisations to win a Distinction at the Awards in 2021. Now in their 63rd year, the International Safety Awards recognise and celebrate organisations from around the world which have demonstrated to the satisfaction of the scheme’s independent judges their commitment to preventing workplace injuries and work-related ill health during the previous calendar year. The awards also recognise organisations that have shown commitment to wellbeing and mental health at work. Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, congratulated Kier on their success in winning an International Safety Award 2021 and said: “The British Safety Council applauds Kier Construction on their achievement. Association of College Beacon Awards 2020/21

Breaking News! Our Partner The Manchester College, are through to the National final of the Association of College (AoC) Beacon Awards 2020/21 – Edge Award for Excellence in Real World Learning. The awards celebrate the best and most innovative practice among UK further education colleges. The aim of the awards is to demonstrate and promote the far-reaching impact of colleges on their students and the communities they serve. The commended and winning case studies will be used to increase understanding of colleges’ contribution to educational skills policy and economic and social development. The co-designed, co-delivered and co-assessed Btec level 3 in Architectural Construction and Engineering Scholarship is an exemplary model for bridging the gaps between academia and the construction industry. The 2-year programme offers selected candidates a 45-day work placement, a bursary and state of the art laptop and 5 bespoke modules, with the aim of getting and the students ready for the world of work. Reaching this stage is a fantastic achievement in its own right and something the college attributes to the outstanding support given by Kier as one of the first industry partners. We facilitated eight student placements, on site with our Birley Fields, SODA and 11 York Street projects before the pandemic and to guarantee all students were given the work placement opportunities the SODA project team hosted a virtual work experience week in December for all twelve students. CSR Award – Ponteland Schools & Leisure Development

We are delighted to confirm that our project, Ponteland Schools & Leisure Development has won a Bronze award at this years International CSR Excellence Awards. Some project achievements for this were: Eliminate single use plastic cups on site by purchasing 550ml aluminium bottles for everyone Eliminate floor standing water coolers, sanitation kits and mineral bottles Installation of a water filtration system Employed a local family-owned business to run the on site canteen. This reduced the carbon footprint by 25% as people didn’t travel to the shops on their breaks.
