RoSPA Gold Award

We are delighted that our new combined region of North & Scotland has achieved their first ROSPA Gold Award. We were awarded this for our health & safety performance in 2020. Accidents at work and work related ill health not only cause major disruptions to business processes but the effect on quality of life to the individual cannot be understated. That’s why good safety performance deserves to be recognised and rewarded. It is one of the most prestigious and recognised schemes in the world, with almost 2000 entries every year and a reach of over 7 million employees. Established in 1956, The ROSPA Health & Safety Awards offer organisations a prime opportunity to benchmark safety performance year on year and ensure consistent performance between sites. Roddy Graham – Construction Manager of the Year Finalist

Roddy Graham, Senior Project Manager in the North East region has been confirmed as a finalist for this year’s Construction Manager of the Year Awards 2021 in the ‘Schools over £20m’ category. Roddy was the project leader for the unique integrated Ponteland Schools & Leisure development for Northumberland County Council. The £46m scheme included a primary school, high school and leisure centre in one integrated campus, with a fire station also included within the site compound. Of the nomination Roddy said: “Being a Ponteland resident, I am delighted to have been involved in this unique integrated development, the first of its kind on this scale in the country. With the client having previously been let down by their previous contractor, it was integral that we helped them achieve affordability and also manage the multiple stakeholders involved. Each with their own vision and desires, the end result is a world class facility that I’m delighted to have led successfully, and I can take pride I have delivered this within my community.” The Construction Manager of the Year Awards, run by the CIOB every year since 1978, acknowledge and highlight the achievements of those who deliver projects and buildings to extraordinary standards and make a positive impact on the lives of the people who use them. British Construction Industry Awards 2021

We are delighted that our project, Christ the Word Catholic School in Rhyl, has been confirmed as a finalist at this years British Construction Industry Awards in the Social Infrastructure of the Year category. The BCIA are the most prestigious awards in the built environment sector that seek to recognise and reward excellence in project delivery and, crucially, delivering positive outcomes for society. Environmental Week – Award Success

During environmental week an internal construction carbon calculator tool, which allows our preconstruction and planning teams to identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions from our construction activities, was launched. By using the tool we will be able to demonstrate our responsible approach and that we are taking actions to reduce emissions. As a follow up, a competition was launched for project teams to complete the tool (either retrospectively or for projects in the pipeline) to identify our lowest construction carbon project for 2021 and the winner is: Shakespeare North project in Knowsley! They were awarded this for their use of the PUNCH Flybrid flywheel technology and the project is also using Greenspace cabins for the whole duration of the project, saving 166.54 tons of CO2e from their carbon emissions. Construction News Awards – NHS Louisa Jordan Shortlisted

We are delighted to confirm that our project, NHS Louisa Jordan has been shortlisted in this years Construction News Awards in the Project of the Year (£20-50m) category. This category is open to all UK projects with a budget value over £20m and up to and including £50m that achieved practical completion, or equivalent, between Jan 2020 to May 2021 The project awards are for construction teams who deserve recognition for their high standard of work, adherence to budget and client satisfaction in a healthy and safe working environment and this category celebrates the best of UK construction. Of the award, Grant Bradford said: “It’s fantastic to be receiving further recognition of what was a truly remarkable achievement. It was the finest example of collaboration that we have experienced.
