Paisley Museum – progress on site

Paisley Museum Reimagined is project to transform the existing museum into a world-class visitor destination in Scotland.  When it reopens, the reimagined museum is expected to draw audiences from Scotland, the UK and abroad – almost quadrupling visitor numbers to 125,000 a year.  The renovated museum and library buildings will be in conservation with the new and together they create a cohesive museum campus and a visitor experience of international quality. Works are gathering pace on the project with the installation of three new insitu concrete beams formed and associated temporary works will allow the structure at level 1, and part of level 2, to be removed along with a bulk excavation exercise of circa 1000 tonnes of subsoil that will create level access for Paisley High Street into the museum. Newmarket Waste HQ – progress on site

The Newmarket Waste scheme for Leeds City Council is currently in its final stages and thanks to everyone’s hard work and dedication to collaborative working, the project is on target to handover soon. At present we are laying tarmac to the west car park and have completed the 15000m2 of concrete to the east car park depot area with only the ramps to the workshop to complete. Internally we are carrying out final finishing works such as decoration, flooring, and final fix sanitaryware, with live testing in its advanced stages. Steven Fry, Project Manager said: “On the project, we have all been fully focused on collaborative working and have been committed to sustainable working. The recent considerate contractor score of 45/45 is a testament to everyone’s hard work and commitment to leaving a legacy long after the project is completed. One example is the use of HVO diesel fuel in all of our plant on site which helps to continue Kier’s drive to be net-zero carbon by 2045. Kier appointed to deliver North Chadderton Secondary School Expansion for Oldham Council

Kier has been appointed to deliver the North Chadderton Secondary School expansion by Oldham Council, and this week a turf cutting event was held to celebrate the start of works on site. The project is the first Kier has been appointed to through the new Procure North West Framework, which Kier was appointed to earlier this year. North Chadderton is one of the borough’s highest performing and over-subscribed schools and this expansion will provide new state-of-the-art facilities to add to its learning environment. The 1670m2 project includes the design and build of a modern, fit-for-purpose library, a new science block comprising six fully-serviced laboratories and two prep rooms, a sports pavilion with modern changing facilities and a classroom, a café area and sheltered external hard standing areas. Completion of Guisborough Hospital project

We have recently completed and handed over the £5.5m refurbishment at Guisborough Hospital to NHS Property Services.  The project was delivered through the P21+ framework. The works comprised the wholescale internal refurbishment of a previous wing of the hospital in Guisborough, North Yorkshire.  The new building provides radiology, dental, physiotherapy, and podiatry consultation/treatment facilities for the local community alongside administrative support space over two floors. The original building was significantly repurposed with extensive demolition and alterations to the internal layouts of the building. The external façade works involved extensive repair and repointing of the original structure and masonry, renewal of windows, and installation of feature pods along with renewal of the existing roof. A new extended entrance and canopy have been introduced to the building to provide a welcoming arrival to the new facility. Completion of School of Digital Arts

We have successfully delivered the School of Digital Arts (SODA) building to the Manchester Metropolitan University.  The overall SODA project was jointly funded by the University and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority. The purpose-built 5,200m² school comprises state-of-the-art teaching facilities over 5 floors. The building brings creative, digital, technology and business assets together. The interdisciplinary school houses subjects that span film, animation, User experience design, photography, games, AI and more. The new building has the capability to adapt to technological changes, enabling students to explore and innovate for the future.  Alongside spaces to collaborate, the specialist facilities include a UX Suite, film studios, green screens, edit suites, sound, music & production studios, a cinema and a gallery.  The new facility is located on the site of the Students’ Union car park on Higher Chatham Street, Manchester. Darley Street Markets – progress on site

Works to the Darley Street market project are progressing well and the demolition phase is nearing completion. Works happening on site currently are: To the North of the site (M&S building) the demolition is completed and the final clearing of the demolition rubble is taking place.To the South of the site they are installing an external scaffold around Nr 8 Darley Street to assist the deconstruction of this final building.In the middle of the site they are preparing for the arrival of the rock anchor piling rig.
